Ski Wyoming

Saturday we decided that instead of hanging out inside all day we would venture into the great outdoors. Because there was snow in the forecast and also because it had been almost five years for either of us, we decided that skiing would be a great fit. Camille was interested to see what a Adam would look like on skis because generally he lacks balance when it comes to things like this. In her mind Camille could see Adam flailing his arms all over the place as he fell into a powdery demise. However, Adam proved her wrong and was a speed demon. In fact, towards the end of the day we had some people ask if Adam was actually Bode Miller.

The snow started just outside of Pinedale, Wy. and never seemed to stop. It was not cold, just snowy. While we were eating lunch, which is when this picture was taken, you could barely see the hill. Adam boasted that this is how his kind like it. Camille quickly responded by saying, "Your kind? You mean sasquatch?"

We were lucky enough to be joined by our good friends the Caseys. Jill Pickle, Camille's sister also made the trip, but failed to make this picture. Adam said he was attempting the Heisman pose, but Camille thinks he was falling down and attempting to knock everyone over. Let's just go with the Heisman pose.

After skiing all day, all Adam wanted to do was find a nice little ski bunny to cuddle up with. Luckily for him, he found Pippy Longstocking, who quickly obliged.

Camille and Jill, aka "the flying snow pickle," enjoyed a nice cup of hot cocoa during the lunch break. The flying snow pickle became frustrated with Adam on numerous occasions. These frustrations were not because of Adam's superior skill, but because he was speed would vary (translation...he was butt slow!!).

Adam and Steve came in for the lunch break. They were almost ten minutes behind the rest of the group. When they came in they said that Adam, being the speed demon he is, lost one ski while flying down a hill, did a full flip in the air, and landed in a few feet of powder. Adam had to dig himself out and crawl up the mountain to his other ski. You can tell by the picture how wet he is, and how red his face was. So much for being mistaken for Bode Miller...maybe he should have been mistaken for Sienna Miller instead.

The entire day we tried to think of a good nickname for Adam. Of course nothing could top the flying snow pickle, so we just left it at Adam. Maybe next time he will come up with a good one, unless others out there know of some good ski nicknames. (note: Adam would prefer snow stud, snow king, speed racer, or frosted lightning...but you know, whatever you want to suggest.)

Adam's Mom's Birthday

We were able to have a great new year's eve. We spent the time in Evanston with Adam's family and followed the tradition of going to downtown Evanston to watch the Disco ball drop and watch fireworks. Our intentions were to take lots of great pictures, but Adam and his brother dropped our camera this summer and it has never worked the same since. So, Santa got us a new one, and the new one had not been delivered yet. So, you get pictures of Adam's Mom's Birthday, which was a week after new years.

Adam's neice was a Ice Fairy Princess in this coat. Disregard the mischevious look in her eye and focus on her cute coat.
All the grandkids got into the Christmas spirit a little late as they played ROCK BAND. Seriously, it is the gift that keeps on giving. Hanky apperently was attempting to sing along to "Eye of the Tiger" while being accompanied by his big sister.Part of the festivities were the birthday hats. One of the grand daughters picked out the theme of the party. Hence, Tinker Bell made her second appearance of the holiday season. Adam was attempting to think happy thoughts in hopes that he could fly. He soon gave up and went and ate some more food.

Hanky also attempted to fly by thinking happy thoughts, but then began to explain that Captain Hook was not a nice guy and that the crocodile tried to eat him.

Happy Birthday to the best mom, mother-in-law, and grandma there is!!! We love you!!

Christmas 2008

We have decided to try and play some catch up since we have been without internet for sometime. We are actually still without internet, but Adam's work was so kind as to allow us to upload some pictures to our blog. We only had time to throw together a few pictures and they are in no particular order.

We had a great December. Adam enjoyed the month so much he has included the disclaimer saying that in the following pictures the camera added a couple hundred pounds. Camille decorated our house, Adam worked at his new job, and we spent a lot of time hanging out with family and doing what all the world did on Christmas day...what is that you might ask? Well, we did open presents, eat, and fill up on holiday cheer, but that is not what all the world did on Christmas day. What all the world did on Christmas day was play Rock Band. Adam's sister got the gift that kept on giving all day long. We played with Adam's brothers and sister for over 7 hours!! As you can see in the following picture Adam's face shows the stress and concentration.
Camille was a bit more relaxed while riding the steel horse. But looks can be deceiving. Don't mess with a chick wearing tinker bell PJ's and an ax!! Christmas morning was fun. This picture was taken well before the day of Rock Band began. We made quite the haul. Both Santa and our families were kind to us this year.

When Adam was a kid he and his brothers would listen to the Chipmunks Christmas and run, actually sprint, around with so much energy that they could not be contained. Not much has changed. Camille was barely able to contain Adam long enough for this picture to be taken. You can see Adam's rosy cheeks, which were a direct result from the house being to hot and Adam running around with excitement. Also take note of Adam's awesome PJ's. They have all the DC comic book characters, and are flashy to boot.

A couple of weeks before we enjoyed Christmas we had an ugly sweater party with some friends in our new hometown and at our new house. Adam's sweater was three sizes too big for him and was so ugly he nicknamed it "The Widowmaker"

Camille's ugly sweater may bring back many memories of women who lived in the 80's. All Camille was lacking was a good pair of shoulder pads and some big bangs. Maybe next year.

What is an ugly sweater party without a cheezy picture?
Camille worked hared on decorating our house this year. Adam was in and out and was mainly used for heavy manual labor. If you look closely you can see where we actually decked the halls with boughs of holly. Adam made sure to sing "fa ra ra ra ra, ra ra ra ra" the entire time (re: A Christmas story).
Many of the faithful readers of this blog were skeptical that our 15 foot christmas tree would actually fit into our house. In fact, we hear the comment by more than on of our readers that we were the common aged Griswalds. Well, behold, our Christmas tree fit with plenty room to spare. We only had to fight off one squirrel. Just kidding...No animals were harmed in the making of this blog entry.

Alive and Kicking

Just to let the blogging world know, we are still around and have had intentions to update our blog. However, we are still without internet at our house. Give us some time. We have a slew of pictures and fun stories for all. Stay tuned...

10-4 Big Buddy!!

A quiz!!
What is Camille doing in this picture?
a. Camille is converting our little apartment into a cardboard castle.
b. She is attempting to clean up after a killer party in which all of white trash nation was invited to attend. (Hence all the beer boxes)
c. We are moving.
Obviously the correct answer is c. We have been packing our things for the past week in preparation for relocating. Adam has accepted a new job and we will actually be living in a house (renting only). Every room in our apartment has a stack of boxes as tall as Camille. Note: we HATE moving!!!The weather has been very mild thus far, but this morning we woke up and there was snow everywhere (just our luck). We also got a call that the Uhaul we rented was not returned on time, so they upgraded us to the biggest truck on the lot. Adam has been thinking of trucker names for himself all day long and keeps ending conversations with "10-4 big buddy, over and out!"Adam put on his best trucker face. He has been making Camille call him by all his trucker names. Names such as: Wolfman Jones, JimBob, Whitey Road, and Camille's personal favorite Big Daddy Johnson. Adam loved driving by little cars and seeing the kids in the back seat pumping their fists for him to honk his horn. Adam also keeps saying the road is his playground...he is even considering passing up invetro fertilization to become a truck driver...but probably not...he still so wants to be a mother. This is the house we will be moving into. It appears to be very nice and we do wish we could buy it, but we will only be renting. The woman who built it was some rich lady in California and wanted to get out of dodge. So we lucked into a good rental deal. Before we could move in Camille had to do some cleaning. Adam attempted to vaccum the carpet with neat designs (he was trying to make the designs in the carpet like the grass has in baseball diamonds). So, Camille took over and finished things up.
Here is an inside view. There is quite a bit of room and the ceilings are so tall Adam wants to install a basketball rim...Camille says "Over my dead body!!"

Another angle and a shot of the kitchen. It is really a nice home and we feel fortunate to be lucky enough to get it.

Camille is looking forward to decorating for Christmas and putting up our Christmas tree. Many doubted that we could fit a 15 foot tree...but I think we will be ok and there will be no Clark Griswald experiences this year.
Camille is all smiles as she unpacks some of our things and finishes cleaning. We know you are all jealous of the fantastic light fixtures, but keep yourselves under control. Because tomorrow is our official moving day and we will be without the internet for a few weeks, this will be our last post until after Christmas. Hope everyone has a great and safe holiday season, and above all MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!

A turkey for me and a turkey for you...

One of the greatest holidays of the year was celebrated recently. The reason it is such a great holiday is because you eat to the point that you are uncomfortable (pants unbuttoned!!), then watch football, then eat pie until you are super uncomfortable (sweatpants anyone?)...brilliant!! This year we celebrated Thanksgiving with Camille's family in Logan. She had cousins, uncles, aunts, parents, grandparents, and a partridge in a pear tree attend the meal. We all cramed into Grandma's dining room and attempted to pass all the goods around the tables. The dishes piled up, and luckily for the men (who were watching football), the women did the clean up.The drunk that Adam is, got an early start by giving the camera a cheers. Camille thinks he was drinking so much to hide his feelings about being a hunchback (Adam's mom would not be pleased with his posture in this picture!). Don't worry it was that apple juice stuff that comes in a bottle. The best tradition in Camille's family is choosing the most annoying person in the family and giving them the beats with baseball bats...only kidding. It is actually making homemade ice cream. The first step in the process is crushing the ice, which is where the bats came in handy. Chase, Camille's cousin, helped Adam out by bringing sexy back with a bat. Before the churning of the ice cream could begin, the grunts who were to churn had to recieve specific instructions from Grandpa. Note: Adam still screwed up the process.Adam was on the first shift for turning and churning the ice cream. He cranked the handle for almost 20 minutes before someone noticed that he was turning the handle the wrong way, ultimatley doing nothing.Towards the end of the ice cream being ready, it is so hard that the handle is difficult to turn. So some poor idiot has to stand on the barrel giving the turner some leverage to continue turning the handle. If you cannot tell, Adam is terrified of falling...Chase seems to be finding joy in Adam's terror, while Grandpa thinks we are just two whippersnappers.Another great tradition of Thanksgiving is Turkey Day football. Adam strapped a helmet on and was ready to play middle linebacker for the BYU Cougars...actually, judging from his facemask, he looks more ready to be a kicker, but let the boy dream!!After spending the holiday in Logan, we stopped off at Adam's parents' house to help them decorate one of the two or three trees they have in their home. They were so excited to be decorating that Adam is doing the hokey pokey by putting one foot in...while Adam's mom is singing "I am a little teapot...here is my handle." We loved spending time with both our wonderful families and are looking forward to having a great holiday season.

Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree...

It's that time of year again, when people break out the music, egg nog, and garland. They deck the halls, and happily wrap presents. But, do they go out in the middle of no where and kill innocent trees? No, this is the year of a blood red Christmas!! Just kidding. This year we were lucky enough to go out with Camille's family and cut down not just one Christmas tree...oh no, when you go out with the Cartwrights you GO OUT...we cut down 3 Christmas trees and included some boughs to deck something (Adam was shocked that someone actual does deck the halls with boughs of real holly.)
In this pic Adam is tag teaming with Camille's dad to murder...uh, cut down this tree. The saying is true that if there are people in the forest and a tree is cut down, people do hear the tree scream.Adam decided that "saws, saws, we don't need no saws!!" So, he attempted to push over trees. They were dead and easily pushed over, but he felt like a super hero. As Camille and her family were wondering around the forest they could hear someone screaming "Hulk SMASH!!" and trees falling over.Camille would like to know who the genius is that gave Adam a saw? Or is this the movie poster for "A Blood Red Christmas: Screaming Trees"Camille somehow convinced Adam that it would be a good idea to have a 15 foot live Christmas tree in our house. So here she is, posing once again, with her Christmas Tree. This is a side view of the monster tree. Adam thinks that Camille was trying her best to be in Hallmark Christmas special. All she needed was Randy Travis to come out of the truck saying or singing, "Have your self, a merry little Christmas..."The sequal to the blockbuster, movie of the year, "A Blood Red Christmas: Screaming Trees" is the highly anticipated "Twilight: When the Trees fight back like vampires in love"At the end of the killings...uh, day, we attempted to get a nice family photo. The camera was balanced on two logs with pieces of bark holding it in place. Because of our brilliant skills with a camera, most of the pictures had parts of the log in it, was tilted to the side, or, in this pic's case, had Camille's mom being a shadow person. Ah well, it was a great day for killing trees...cutting trees. Happy Holiday Decorating to all.
