Bear Lake

Adam's birthday falls at the end of July, which Camille says she is always jealous of because hers is in February. It is cold and generally snowy, and she doesn't get to do fun things like go to Bear Lake. So, this year, we went to Bear Lake. We took some of Adam's family and some of Camille's family. Grady was in heaven. Not only did he have lots of fun aunts, uncles, and grandparents to do his bidding, but also had sand and water. The birthday boy in all his glory!!
What is a trip to the lake without wonderful food. We were incredibly lucky to have a private beach. Camille's dad had a coworker who gave us permission to use his beach front property, which included a grassy area, table and umbrella.

Ah, the lovely couple. It isn't Hawaii, but as close as we are going to get in the Rocky Mountains.

Grady, again, had many slaves at Bear Lake. Grandpa was a good sport and took Grady up and down the beach, into the water, and up to get snacks all day long.

The sand and the sand toys were Grady's loves. In fact, he loved them so much, he wouldn't take a nap and pitched an incredible fit when we had to leave. The second he was in his car seat and stopped crying, he was asleep. He LOVED the lake.

Uncle Chuck was good enough to take Grady out in a little tube...however, Grandpa was never far away. Since Grady was bossing Grandpa and some of the aunts around, the rest of us just lounged or floated around an orange buoy. We sat out in the lake for a few hours, just talking and enjoying the nice summer day. Note: Uncle Chuck was the only one brave enough to go shirtless...because of this he was forced to walk around all day sucking in and flexing.

At the end of the day we went to Gators Drive-in in Randolph, Utah and got a burger and Raspberry Shakes. Adam said it was a great birthday.

Adam and the Garden of Eden

The dog days of summer...Grady went to some friends house to be watched a week ago or so. The friends that were watching him have a couple of sweet little girls who LOVED Grady. They decided that because it was hot and bright outside, Grady needed the appropriate attire and gave him some of their old sun glasses. Grady believed himself to be the coolest kid on the block and would not stop singing, "I wear my sunglasses at night..."
When he is not terrorizing the neighborhood friends, he is torturing his parents. He is now a full time walker and gets into everything. His favorite haunts include: the bookcase in his room where he rips all the books off, Dad's night stand where he rips all dad's books off, Mom's night stand where he rips all mom's books off, anything in the kitchen, and has recently discovered toilets. Last year Camille begged Adam to plant a garden. Adam said, "What do I look like? The first man on earth!!?" and refused to do so. This year, Camille begged and Adam finally gave in. So, we planted a small garden last spring in our backyard. When we first planted the garden, we were sure it was going to fail. Boy howdy were we wrong!! It has exploded!! (Note: This photo was taken a few weeks ago, and the garden has doubled in size since then...the plants are taller and fatter than before.)
To this point we have harvested close to 4 cups of strawberries Every corn stock has at least two or three or more ears, we have picked a few cups of beans, had some peas, and are waiting for our potatoes to fully grow.

The biggest shocker of all is the Zucchini and Yellow Squash. Adam went out last week to see if any was ready and came in holding a foot long zucchini. Grady thought it was a ball and tried to throw it. We now have more zucchini than we now what to do with. Note: Camille has made 8 loaves of bread, 3 dozen cookies, frozen 13 bags of shredded zucchini, and it feels like we eat it or yellow squash every night. Adam says Camille should change her name to Eve and has even gone so far as to call Grady, Cain...just kidding.
