10-4 Big Buddy!!

A quiz!!
What is Camille doing in this picture?
a. Camille is converting our little apartment into a cardboard castle.
b. She is attempting to clean up after a killer party in which all of white trash nation was invited to attend. (Hence all the beer boxes)
c. We are moving.
Obviously the correct answer is c. We have been packing our things for the past week in preparation for relocating. Adam has accepted a new job and we will actually be living in a house (renting only). Every room in our apartment has a stack of boxes as tall as Camille. Note: we HATE moving!!!The weather has been very mild thus far, but this morning we woke up and there was snow everywhere (just our luck). We also got a call that the Uhaul we rented was not returned on time, so they upgraded us to the biggest truck on the lot. Adam has been thinking of trucker names for himself all day long and keeps ending conversations with "10-4 big buddy, over and out!"Adam put on his best trucker face. He has been making Camille call him by all his trucker names. Names such as: Wolfman Jones, JimBob, Whitey Road, and Camille's personal favorite Big Daddy Johnson. Adam loved driving by little cars and seeing the kids in the back seat pumping their fists for him to honk his horn. Adam also keeps saying the road is his playground...he is even considering passing up invetro fertilization to become a truck driver...but probably not...he still so wants to be a mother. This is the house we will be moving into. It appears to be very nice and we do wish we could buy it, but we will only be renting. The woman who built it was some rich lady in California and wanted to get out of dodge. So we lucked into a good rental deal. Before we could move in Camille had to do some cleaning. Adam attempted to vaccum the carpet with neat designs (he was trying to make the designs in the carpet like the grass has in baseball diamonds). So, Camille took over and finished things up.
Here is an inside view. There is quite a bit of room and the ceilings are so tall Adam wants to install a basketball rim...Camille says "Over my dead body!!"

Another angle and a shot of the kitchen. It is really a nice home and we feel fortunate to be lucky enough to get it.

Camille is looking forward to decorating for Christmas and putting up our Christmas tree. Many doubted that we could fit a 15 foot tree...but I think we will be ok and there will be no Clark Griswald experiences this year.
Camille is all smiles as she unpacks some of our things and finishes cleaning. We know you are all jealous of the fantastic light fixtures, but keep yourselves under control. Because tomorrow is our official moving day and we will be without the internet for a few weeks, this will be our last post until after Christmas. Hope everyone has a great and safe holiday season, and above all MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!

A turkey for me and a turkey for you...

One of the greatest holidays of the year was celebrated recently. The reason it is such a great holiday is because you eat to the point that you are uncomfortable (pants unbuttoned!!), then watch football, then eat pie until you are super uncomfortable (sweatpants anyone?)...brilliant!! This year we celebrated Thanksgiving with Camille's family in Logan. She had cousins, uncles, aunts, parents, grandparents, and a partridge in a pear tree attend the meal. We all cramed into Grandma's dining room and attempted to pass all the goods around the tables. The dishes piled up, and luckily for the men (who were watching football), the women did the clean up.The drunk that Adam is, got an early start by giving the camera a cheers. Camille thinks he was drinking so much to hide his feelings about being a hunchback (Adam's mom would not be pleased with his posture in this picture!). Don't worry it was that apple juice stuff that comes in a bottle. The best tradition in Camille's family is choosing the most annoying person in the family and giving them the beats with baseball bats...only kidding. It is actually making homemade ice cream. The first step in the process is crushing the ice, which is where the bats came in handy. Chase, Camille's cousin, helped Adam out by bringing sexy back with a bat. Before the churning of the ice cream could begin, the grunts who were to churn had to recieve specific instructions from Grandpa. Note: Adam still screwed up the process.Adam was on the first shift for turning and churning the ice cream. He cranked the handle for almost 20 minutes before someone noticed that he was turning the handle the wrong way, ultimatley doing nothing.Towards the end of the ice cream being ready, it is so hard that the handle is difficult to turn. So some poor idiot has to stand on the barrel giving the turner some leverage to continue turning the handle. If you cannot tell, Adam is terrified of falling...Chase seems to be finding joy in Adam's terror, while Grandpa thinks we are just two whippersnappers.Another great tradition of Thanksgiving is Turkey Day football. Adam strapped a helmet on and was ready to play middle linebacker for the BYU Cougars...actually, judging from his facemask, he looks more ready to be a kicker, but let the boy dream!!After spending the holiday in Logan, we stopped off at Adam's parents' house to help them decorate one of the two or three trees they have in their home. They were so excited to be decorating that Adam is doing the hokey pokey by putting one foot in...while Adam's mom is singing "I am a little teapot...here is my handle." We loved spending time with both our wonderful families and are looking forward to having a great holiday season.

Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree...

It's that time of year again, when people break out the music, egg nog, and garland. They deck the halls, and happily wrap presents. But, do they go out in the middle of no where and kill innocent trees? No, this is the year of a blood red Christmas!! Just kidding. This year we were lucky enough to go out with Camille's family and cut down not just one Christmas tree...oh no, when you go out with the Cartwrights you GO OUT...we cut down 3 Christmas trees and included some boughs to deck something (Adam was shocked that someone actual does deck the halls with boughs of real holly.)
In this pic Adam is tag teaming with Camille's dad to murder...uh, cut down this tree. The saying is true that if there are people in the forest and a tree is cut down, people do hear the tree scream.Adam decided that "saws, saws, we don't need no saws!!" So, he attempted to push over trees. They were dead and easily pushed over, but he felt like a super hero. As Camille and her family were wondering around the forest they could hear someone screaming "Hulk SMASH!!" and trees falling over.Camille would like to know who the genius is that gave Adam a saw? Or is this the movie poster for "A Blood Red Christmas: Screaming Trees"Camille somehow convinced Adam that it would be a good idea to have a 15 foot live Christmas tree in our house. So here she is, posing once again, with her Christmas Tree. This is a side view of the monster tree. Adam thinks that Camille was trying her best to be in Hallmark Christmas special. All she needed was Randy Travis to come out of the truck saying or singing, "Have your self, a merry little Christmas..."The sequal to the blockbuster, movie of the year, "A Blood Red Christmas: Screaming Trees" is the highly anticipated "Twilight: When the Trees fight back like vampires in love"At the end of the killings...uh, day, we attempted to get a nice family photo. The camera was balanced on two logs with pieces of bark holding it in place. Because of our brilliant skills with a camera, most of the pictures had parts of the log in it, was tilted to the side, or, in this pic's case, had Camille's mom being a shadow person. Ah well, it was a great day for killing trees...cutting trees. Happy Holiday Decorating to all.

Disneyland

We were so lucky to be able to get away...by going to Disneyland. Camille was so excited that she could not sleep for the few nights before we left. However, on this particular trip we took over 300 photos. So, we will do our best to give a sampling of what we did...Phillips style.

Universal Studios

We were lucky to get to California early enough the first day to enjoy Universal Studios. Unfortunaltey for us, most of the park was destroyed by a fire last summer. Adam became so upset about not being able to enjoy most of the back lot tour that he became angry...and you wouldn't like him when he was angry...HULK SMASH!!!

The saddest part about going to the theme parks in California is waiting in lines. We actually had to wait in line to get a picture by Jaws. Adam really let it eat him up in the end.Another of Adam's true loves in life is playing Halo. He was giddy to see the Master Chief on display.

Disneyland

After our adventures in Hollywood, we made our way to the real reason we went to California...The Land. If you squint, you can see Camille shivering with excitment in the left corner next to the sign. Since there were so many pictures, we decided to split them into groups. So enjoy, and please keep all hands, feet, and other objects in the cart at all times.

Wardrobe

Those lucky Mice who have visited the Magic Kindgom know there are lots of hats and 3-D glasses to be worn; and those that know Adam, know he was in hog heaven by making enough faces and goofy remarks to last a lifetime. We will start with the 3-D glasses and make our way to hats.

While waiting 45 minutes to get on Toy Story, Adam was psyching himself up. Camille had been victorious two times previously in the shooting game. Adam could not let his wife beat him a third. He was primed and ready.

While watching A Bugs Life it became difficult to tell who was bugging who...Adam bugging Camille or the lines bugging Adam. While standing in line Adam continously made buzzing sounds and poked Camille while making the face below...watching Camille become annoyed...priceless.Adam was so taken with this hat that he was imagining himself being swept away by a prince on a white steed.

Could this be his prince on a white steed? Perhaps it is the female version of Peter Pan. Adam tried to get Camille to sing the song from Peter Pan, but she said "absolutley not!" So, Adam was forced to serenade her while doing a jig and wearing a Peter Pan hat. He was so convincing as Peter Pan that Disney actively recruited Adam for their parades and shows. But due to time contstraints we were unable to oblidge.

Food

One of the best parts of any vacation is eating. We were super spoiled this trip and really enjoyed pigging out. Our first night we went and ate at the Blue Bayou, which is the restaurant seen in the Bayou scene on Pirates of the Carribean. We know you are all so jealous, and you should be, it was super fun and had really good food.

At night it would get a bit cold, so instead of wearing sweat shirts, we just decided to get soup. They had fantastic chowder in a bread bowl. Camille was tempted to put on some mouse ears and officially model the soup for Disney, but at the last second decided to go in a different direction.Camille pigged out on pizza in fantasyland...who knew they had pizza in the future...go figure.Camille sucking down not one, but two ice cream cones...and next to an elephant. Only in Disneyland we guess. (Actually, one of the cones was Adam's)The best treat we found was the Pineapple floats at the stand outside the Tiki Room. This delightful treat can only be found in Hawaii and Disneyland. So, we made sure to get a few of them to make sure we enjoyed their originality.

Rides

The best part of Disneyland is of course the rides, and we made sure to go on all of them as many times as we could. We walked so much that Adam is still trying to recover by laying in bed and doing nothing...the wuss!!

While Adam was off driving above, Camille was getting some action from Mr. Toad. That Toad knows how to work it, gotta give him some credit.Adam tried for a good ten minutes to pull the sword out before Camille finally told him that the sword doesn't come out. As we were walking away, Adam gave it two more good pulls just to make sure. Our personal favorite is Pirates of the Carribean...we went on the ride like 15 times in the three days we were there. Don't mind Camille getting fresh with the skull...This is a terrible picture because it is a picture of a picture. We were on the Tower of Terror, and we couldn't pass up sharing Adam's reaction to falling. He is on the top right. Camille was much more stoic.Storybook land is a fun little ride where a whale jumps out and eats a little girl's head. This was an attempt to take a picture of the whale as we went into its mouth. Instead it turned out to look like the whale was eating the little girl. One of Camille's favorite rides is Splash Mountain. However, everytime we went on it we were sitting in the front. The first few times we got somewhat wet, however, the last time we went on it we had three heavier people in our log. Words cannot describe how wet we were, but these pictures can. Adam literally had two dry spots...his waistline and his arm pit.Adam had not been to Disneyland in over 15 years, and so had never been on Indiana Jones. He was very excited about the ride, but was more taken with all the neat stuff leading up to the actual ride. Note: Adam was not getting fresh with this skull.Adam was so happy to be going on Indiana Jones that he attempted a pole dance. His leg was even kicked up, but was out of frame. Too bad world...you missed one heck of a show.

Bizzare and other stuff

The last day of our Disneyland adventure it happened to be Goth Day. There were some of the weirdest dressed people on the planet. At one point a little boy who was standing in line next to us asked his mother, "Is it day of the dead or something!!?"

Do you recognize these three? One of our days we were walking around when we found ourselves literally 3 feet from the Jonas Brothers. They were taping a Christmas Day show for the Disney Channel Christmas Day Special. So look for a tall dude wearing a BYU hat, and his shorter wife who was crying and throwing her arms out to them. Note: We also saw Dennis Quaid with his family, but we decided not to take a picture of him.

The final picture of Disneyland was Camille with Adam...oops, Goofy. We had a great time and can't wait until we can make it back.
