We have had a great, but very busy summer. It seems that every weekend we have been traveling to visit family. However, one weekend during the past month or so Adam's parents and sister came to visit. It was very exciting because Carli, Adam's sister, had just gotten engaged and Camille was very excited to see her wedding ring. During their visit, we took them around to see some of the sites. We live close to the final resting place of Sacagawea. It is located in a rather common graveyard; however, there they have erected a statue and memorial area. If you look closely in this picture you will see Adam's Dad in the distance announcing his arrival by raising his hand and yodeling to the surrounding mountains.
The graveyard sat on the side of a hill. The Native Americans in this area honor their dead by placing various items and relics on the graves, in memorium of them. We saw things from jewels and money to Star Wars toys. It was a very neat and colorful experience. This picture fails to show unique the graves were, but you can see the dirt trail we had to climb.
After the graveyard visit, we went to the Native American History Musuem. Outside the musuem they have a big teepee with a bench in front of it. The twins (Adam and his Dad) couldn't help but sit and wave at passerbys...incidentally, no one mistook them for locals.
Camille, Carli, and Adam's mom, Julie, all huddled in front of the teepee. Carli was going to crawl inside, but saw that there was tall grass and bugs...She quickly stated "I'm OUT!!"
The 4th of July we traveled down to see family and go to the Salt Lake City Bees game. We have gone for the past three years and have enjoyed it every year. The stadium is packed and the $8 dollar hotdogs flow freely!! Here is Camille's dad tearing into a dog. Throughout the day Adam fully expected him to say Aloha , instead all Dennis said was "I'm hungry!!"
A self portrait of US! Usually the temprature is so hot that we sweat to death and all the pictures we take make us look like we are shiny. However, this year the temp was perfect...other than Adam...he is always HOT!!
Speaking of hot dogs and Adam, every 4th all he can talk about is the All-American Dog. Can you guess which dog is the All-American vs. the $8 Dollar Dog? The All-American is full of awesomeness!!! It is an 8 inch dog with pepperjack cheese sauce spread all over, topped with grilled peppers/onions, tomatoes, and sweet pickles. Hot Dog heaven.
Adam refused to eat anything too filling throughout the day. He and Camille's Dad went to Transformers II, and he was forced to push away any snacks. The only thing on his mind was the All-American Hot Dog. Adam almost shed a tear as he ate the dog and under his breath whispered, "God bless America!!"
The Fireworks were amazing, as usual; although, we were sitting so close to them that the ashes would fall down on us. Adam, unfortunatley, had his mouth open in awe as he watched and thinks he developed a bad case of the black lung from inhaling so much ash.
Finally, to bring everyone up to date, this past weekend we went to Kemmerer's Fossil Fest. It was a nice city celebration with all the works: A parade, plays, crafts, arts, food, and most important for Adam...a 3 on 3 basketball tournament. Adam didn't really have a team, so he was placed on a team that needed another player. They were really bad and only won one game. So, after his thrilling victory, Camille took a picture of Adam's victory face. Deep down inside he was singing a Tina Turner song to himself, "Simply the best, better than all the rest!"
After the BBall tourney, we all went to the main park where we watched Adam's brother and sister-in-law perform some plays for the crowd. However, Adam was so tired from playing that we forgot to take any pictures of the event (it was good, despite no picture evidence). As you can see, not only was Adam tired, but his nephew Hanky was pretty pooped. He fell asleep on Adam's lap. The summer has been great so far, and we have been busy, but we will be better at updating the blog, so stay tuned.
