Happy Doughnut Day '09

We know many children and cops could barely sleep on the night of June 4th, for they knew that a certain fat elfish man would be making rounds the next day...becuase on June 5th, it was DOUGHNUT DAY!!!In honor of one of our favorite holidays, we had to prepare properly, so we went and got some sandwiches, quickly ate them, and put on our magic aprons, ready to roll (oh yes, pun intended!)Camille, the little doughnut elf she is, had spread the ingrediants out before her, ready to create a magical pastry that many a law enforcement officer has succombed to.
Adam had to slap Camille's hand away more than once as she attempted to reach in and sneak bites of the dough. On a side note, Adam thought that was disgusting, who eats raw dough...magic doughnut elves DO NOT eat enchanted dough.

Adam was the deep fry guy elf. We decided to make a different shape than last year's doughnuts. They cooked much faster, but still were filled with enchanted goodness and flavor.
The Head Elf himself...Adam was very happy to be making the doughnuts. Camille had to slap his hand away many times from eating the doughnuts after they were fried. On a side note, dough after it is fried and covered in sugar and cinnamon is absolutley amazing!! Magic Doughnut Elves DO eat as many fried doughnuts as possible.
The finished product before we made our doughnut run to all the good little families in our neighborhood.
If you look closely you can see that Adam made sure that each Doughnut had a magical touch. That magical touch was a good inch or two of sugar and cinnamon. He kept saying that these doughnuts are a dieters delight because we cut the middles out...so he could eat two or three more than he did last year.
Camille's face was pure ecstasy and pleasure as she tore apart an enchanted Doughnut. Adam kept trying to think of Doughnut Day Carols to sing, but they all sounded more like the themes from McDonalds.
Welcome to Doughnut land...a place that is kind of like Chuck-o-rama, but with doughnuts!!Adam, the head doughnut elf, says that you had better be good, because he is keeping an eye on you.

The Pickle has flown the coup

A couple of weekends ago we made the long trek down to see Camille's sister Jill "The Pickle" graduate from high school. When we first got married Jill was only in 8th grade, so it was a bit weird to be seeing her graduate from high school. She has gotten so old!!! Soon she will be off to college, studying hard, partying hard, and looking for wild men...just kidding, she won't study that hard...Jilly Pickle was so tickled to be graduating that she attempted to eat her tassle and throw down a peace sign. Her close friend Nathan was just tickled. The neatest thing about the entire day was that Jill graduated top of her class...well, she actually shared the accolade with two others, but, she was one of the speakers. She did such a nice job that someday one may see her on the Food Network...Jillian Childs anyone?
Speaking of Jillian Childs...Adam was put in charge of preparing some of the after graduation food. He and others cut a miriad of veggies and made kababs.
Adam was attempting his best Julia...Jillian Childs face as he applied the BBQ sauce. He also kept saying, "Don't mess with a man in an apron, SUCKA!!"

I wear my Sunglasses at night

Since we are boring people that don't have a ton of things to update with, we decided to show the one thing that is pretty exciting that happened recently...Camille got new sun glasses and a scarf. Adam is sure that many of you out there in Blogger land were thinking, "hey, isn't that the girl married to David Beckham?" or "What modeling agency has she signed with?" But alas, it is Camille in all her Sunglass glory... Here is a full body image of Camille modeling the new Sunglasses. Adam tried them on, but was immediatley told he looks like a bug and should remove them or suffer penalties of pain and anguish. Only the truely posh may wear such glasses...and make it look as good as Camille does. As Camille walked around the house with them on, Adam would sing with his best Camille voice, "I'm too sexy for my husband..."

We Got Two Tickets to Paradise...

After each tax season, which has been two, we have decided to blow off some steam by going on a vacation. Last year we went on a cruise, and we were leaning towards doing that again this year. However, an opportunity came along where we got a chance to go to HAWAII...and of course we took it. We previously went for our honeymoon and always wanted to go back. Vacations for us are all about relaxing, eating, and seeing cool things. The first thing we do when we land in Hawaii is go to the store and load up on fruit, drinks, and other goodies they don't have on the mainland. Camille is so happy to be drinking POG (Passion fruit, orange, guava juice) that she is about to pour the entire jug down her mouth. Never mind she is wearing a dress...we were about to go to church.
One of the things Camille looked forward to the most was seeing the Volcanoes. We drove almost three hours to the southern end of the island. It was a breezy, but nice day. We got to the musuem, watched a video and thought...ok, lets go see some lava. When we came out of the musuem a dense fog had come in, and we couldn't see ten feet in front of us. But, for good times sake, we took a picture of Camille with the Volcano.
The coolest thing we did at the Volcanoes was go to some lava tubes, where lava had once flowed (it was just a long, creepy cave. Adam kept looking up expecting a big boulder to come rolling down...like Indiana Jones. Sadly, no boulders rolled.). On this day, the only thing flowing was Adam's vibe...he is dead sexy.
We went all the way to Hawaii to eat something portugese. Malasadas are pretty much 100% pure goodness...it is a sweetbread roll with sugar all over it (essentially it is doughnut roll). We ate many and had no regrets...at least not until we got home and got on the scales.
Another one of our favorite foods is Scandanavian Ice. It is shaved ice with a bunch of ice cream in the middle. We EACH ordered a medium, but quickly decided to share one when we saw how large they were. Notice the same lustful eyes Adam has in this picture that Camille had for the malasadas...Food lust was a common theme to our vacation.
On one of the days we went up North to see a very cool valley with a hard name to spell (Pololu Valley), so you get "The Cool Valley." It has jagged cliffs and a black sand beach. Camille read a brochure about the valley and it said there was a "warrior" hike that is spectacular. We felt chipper and decided to take said "warrior" hike. In this picture, it is a good thing you cannot see us up close. It was so long, so far, and so so HOT. Adam had sweat through his shirt and looked like he had played basketball for hours. Camille claims to only have sweated a drop or two because she is in that good of shape.
This is the trail for the WARRIORS. Adam gave us each Hawaiian warrior names as we hiked. He was of course Warrior Shark...While Camille was Complains About Long Hikes Shark. Note: Camille was not fond of her hawaiian warrior name.
After our long Warrior hike, we were still extremely sweaty and so tired. We were also famished. Luckily for us, one of the best, if not THE best restaurant on the island was near where we were hiking. It is called the Bamboo. It was an old Hotel that was built in the early 1900's and was converted into an eatery. They serve what they claim to be traditional Hawaiian dishes. Adam claims it to be the best food he has ever eaten. If you look closley you can see that Adam's shirt is still covered in sweat, and this was almost two hours later...He claimed that sweat gets chicks with cool Hawaiian warrior names.
The next day we went to the Wai Pi'o Valley, which was a very short hike and we could spell the name. Because of the short hike, there were no Hawaiian warrior names to be had (and Adam didn't have to sweat). It was absolutley gorgeous!!
After we visited and hiked around the valleys we decided to look for some civilization. We went to the "City of Refuge." It was not only a very beautiful place, but also had a lot of history. Camille was trying to get some directions from some of the locals, but it was like talking to a wall...
It was so pretty there, we decided to get a good picture of us for our next Christmas card. However, we decided that we looked stiff as boards.
We walked around the City of Refuge, which is a sacred area for the Hawaiians. So, we weren't really allowed to go to certain places...but it was a very neat place, and even more exciting for us was that someone volunteered to take our picture (we find all our pictures are never of the two of us.)
Camille's absolute favorite thing (besides the foggy Volcanoes) was the turtles. We saw tons of them and got within one foot of them. Adam called this guy "Turd," which was short for Turtle. However, Camille said that he probably wouldn't prefer that name.
Of course, we also had to go swim with all the Turds...Turtles. Camille looks very focused and uncomfortable...She is so ready to swim with Turds.
Because we live in Wyoming, we both decided that every night we would attempt to eat something with seafood in it. Adam even got courageous and had some raw ahi that was slightly seared. He said it tasted ok, but prefered the Macadamian Nut crusted mahi mahi...heaven!!
Camille avoided the raw fish and decided her bold step into the unknown would be purple mashed potatoes...however, upon arrival she failed to eat any.
Of course, our favorite part of the entire trip was THE BEACH!! We went boogie boarding mainly. Adam would sit out in the water for almost 3-4 hours at a time. Camille liked to lay out a bit more, but we just loved it. Adam loved boogie boarding so much, that he decided to show off some leg and flex his bulging biceps. He swore he saw a few women faint at the sight.
We took a ton more pictures...about 300 to be precise. So, we may put some more up, but we had such a fun trip...upon our return to Wyoming, and within hours of driving into our driveway, Adam's tan flaked off and his true white-self emerged. He cried a little...both about losing the tan, but more about having to go back to work....Maholo and Aloha!!

Revenge of the BUNNY

Springtime brings so many wonderful things to Wyoming...things like, mud, snow, and wind. But it also brings the Easter Bunny. We were pretty positive that the Easter Bunny would not find our current house considering we moved recently. So, we decided to head off to Adam's parents house and hope that the big hopper could find us there.
Obviously, one has to do certain things to ensure that the Easter Bunny can find your house. Things like paint eggs. Over the years, Camille has become a pro at painting eggs. Adam would be considered a semi-pro; however, he is definatley a pro at eating chocolate eggs (especially those Cadbury ones with the hard shell...mmmm, slobbering thinking about it).
Adam's mom also was sure the Easter Bunny would find the house, and so she helped out with the painting. After so many years of putting up with little boys destroying and painting everything but eggs at Easter, she thoroughly enjoyed painting a few. (note: She even told a story of when Adam was a little boy and mistook a dye pellet for a smartie, and ate it. Adam's tongue was purple for a week and she was sure he had poisoned himself. As she was telling the story Adam was slowly putting down the pellets that he thought were smarties.) Adam was worried that, given his age mentally, he would spill something on himself. He therefore borrowed a shirt from his dad. The wording on the shirt says it all... (Note: who knows what Adam is doing in this picture. Maybe he just ate a dye pellet.) Each year we attempt to make funny/clever eggs. This year Adam started things out with an angry, old, yellow man (comb-over included). Camille was instantly attracted to this yellow man and attempted to get fresh with him.
These are the finished products. For a quick game, see if you can spot: Angry yellow old man, French Man, Monster Man, Piggy, BYU Egg, Wyoming Egg, Pirate Egg, Cher, Smiley face egg, Open Wide Egg, Dinosaur Egg, Cyclops, and the Sharpie Marker used to make all these eggs. As with any good battle, there are some casualties. We only had one egg suffer a gruesome death. His guts exploded all over the Egg Cooker. If this is too graphic for your, then please turn away...
Adam's mom was yelling "Nooooooo!!" in dramatic fashion. She was so overcome with emotion at the death of this egg. To console her loss, she cooked another dozen eggs and ate a handful of chocolate eggs. This seamed to calm her down considerably.
Many of you did not know that Camille had such big, beautiful blue eyes. Adam didn't, he always thought they were brown. But weird things happen on Easter. Heck, Camille could have been a were-Rabbit, and her big blue eyes were the first things to change. Adam said he would be ok if she were a were-Rabbit, as long as she brought him an assortment of Deviled and Chocolate Eggs.

Hope everyone had a great Easter and will have a great spring.

Run to the hills...

When we first met Camille loved to brag about how cool her sporty little white Mazda Protege was. She would tell Adam that it had a wicked spoiler on the back and very easily could have been one of the cars in "The Fast and the Furious." Her favorite feature was the sun roof, because Camille would roll it back and let the wind whisp through her hair, frolicking and laughing at all the other cars as she weaved between traffic. (Note: you can see Adam's totally cool truck in this picture too.)Adam's side of the story of the Mazda Protege is a bit different than the love-fest that Camille has in her mind. The one word Adam uses to describe the Mazda is "CRAMPED." When Adam would drive it was almost like his knees were up around his ears. He has more than a few dents on his forehead from blasting the roof as he got in or out. Despite its small stature, it got great gas mileage, and got us to Laramie and back.We have had some great times in this little car. Camille has truly loved this little car and it has served our little family well....BUT......If you look at the back of Camille's car, you will see the spoiler. The key part is the "SPOIL."Camille got her Dream car this past week. We are doing our best to stimulate the economy...actually, it is a Toyota...so, we are stimulating the global economy. It is a 4Runner, which in Adam's opinion is the SUV to all Granolas/Tree Huggers/Environmentalists.

Adam fully expects to see Camille step out of the 4Runner wearing Birkenstocks, a long levi skirt, straight plain hair, and a tie-dye T-shirt (heck, she could even have hairy armpits). As we write Camille is looking at purchasing a variety of bumper stickers that say things like, "Save a deer, kill a hunter," and "Whales have feelings too." The only saving grace to the granola car is the fact that we have a major grill on the front of it. We did not install this, we were lucky enough to have it included. Adam is ready to take this baby on the open road and take out some wildlife...he supposes that it is anti-tree hugger enough to make the car a little more manly. He also fully intends to place a Christmas Wreath on the grill during the Holidays so the Phillips family can look as cool as the other truckers on I-80. Camille was so overcome with joy she couldn't keep her thumbs down.

It was a good thing we got the 4Runner when we did. In the past two weeks we have been blasted with snow and the little Mazda has been stuck in our driveway three times. We woke up the day after buying the 4Runner to a load of snow. Camille was able to safely drive to work...however, there is no sunroof with this vehicle...so there was no whisping, singing, or frolicking.

Bowling with Accountants

Many of you out there in Blogland are probably wondering what in the world happened to us? Well, it is that time of year when CPA's and accountants are living in their cubicals and are having dreams of numbers prancing through their heads. Yes, it is tax season. A wonderful time of year when Camille works hours upon hours, and Adam plays Xbox hours upon hours. This year, as a break, Camille's firm rented the local bowling alley and invited spouses and employees alike to come and have some fun at the Silver Spur Lanes.

Unfortunatley, the Silver Spur Lanes bowling alley is more like a smoker friendly gas station. We felt the white truck with the splashes of purple paint going up the sides were a nice touch. Camille really wanted to jump in the truck, run next door and get a tattoo, and then be back in time to roll a strike; however, she was unimpressed that there were no playboy bunny mud flaps, and decided to just stick with Adam.

The bowling Alley was full of accountants, many of which were dissappointed there was a computer to compute their scores instead of allowing them to add by hand. Adam was apprehensive about being the loudest person there. However, after some "liquid courage" and "social lubricants" many of the accountants proved to be much louder than Adam. They also proved to be better dancers, and better joke tellers...well, at least they laughed at their own jokes.

Camille had her fancy shoes on and was ready to roll. She bragged all week about how she was a professional. She was going to wear her wrist brace, bring a towel, and have a uniform...but she thought that might intimidate her coworkers. She was also so humble as to bowl a 75, just to make everyone feel better.
Adam was focused. He made sure to get a blue ball, and said it was his BYU ball. Adam thought it was fitting because his BYU ball was just like BYU...either they were good and crushed the weaker pins. Or sucked and ended up in the gutter.
The absolute best part of the Silver Spur was the overall theme of the place was "Outer Space." The carpet had planets, comets, and stars. They turned all the lights out and had dark lights on, with lazers blazing. Adam almost forgot he was sitting in the middle of Wyoming. For a second he thought a pointy earred fellow would appear and say "Bowl long, and prosper!"

Another thing we have done latley, well at least Adam, is shovel the driveway. It has been so snowy!! Ah, Wyoming Spring means a late winter. We woke up the other morning to some fresh snow. Adam took this picture from our porch...it was the most snow we have gotten all year. A week later we got over a foot in one night...We keep telling ourselves that we love Wyoming Springs...the flowers are beautiful this time of year.
