Rise and Shout the Cougars are out!!!

Every year Adam gets to go to a BYU football game, and every year we seem to pick a game where it is super cold and rainy. Why would this year be any different? There was snow in the forecast and the temp at kickoff was 39 degrees. But, we had a great time.
Adam's family all came down to Provo to visit Carli (Adam's sister). We all went out to a pre-game meal at Tuaconos. It is the perfect place for Adam because it is an all you can eat meat place. The waiters bring meat around on spits and cut the meat off right onto your plate. Adam was ready to rip off his shirt and yell "FEAST" in a barbaric manner, but Camille restrained him. Unfortunatley she could not restrain Adam's dad who appears behind Carli screaming "FEAST!!"
Adam's brother and sis -n-law, Eric and Aimei, Joined the feast. We were even nice enough to invite Camille's little sister Jill to the party.Adam's dad is still in full FEAST mode, but Adam's mom is just happy to have such a studly, barbaric husband.Camille absolutley hates cold weather. So before the game she was wrapping up and making sure she was warm enough. Please forgive her for wearing a stanford sweatshirt...she knows not what she is doing. Also forgive Jill in the background, she is talking to all her boyfriends. What is a trip to Provo without a nice view of the Y. Here we are outside the stadium. Adam could barely contain his excitement. There are two things in this life that Adam loves more than anything...Camille, and a close second...BYU Football.
A beautful view of the stadium...Adam tears up just looking at such a wonderful sight. Here we are just before the game started. Adam is one of those psychos that has to get to the game about an hour before it starts so he can watch the team warm up. He also does not leave until the game has fully ended. Camille gave up on the game with 4 minutes left and went and hung out in the bathrooms because they were heated.

Boar's Tusk and The Dunes

We decided while we were going to school that we did not do or see enough of the things that Laramie had to offer. So when we moved to our current location we decided that we wanted to see everything that we could (granted, there isn't much to see here). So, our big weekend getaway was to go to a place called Boar's Tusk. It is an ancient volcanic shaft surrounded by seas of sand dunes. It took us around 45 minutes to drive out there. The coolest part was that the area is really flat and right in the middle is a huge spire of rock, which is Boar's Tusk.
Here is a landscape photo. Adam swore that he saw some aliens and a UFO on top, but then realized that we were in the wrong part of Wyoming.
Camille is standing at the base of a large dune. In the background was the Tusk. For living right in the middle of the desert, it was actually quite beautiful.
Adam tried his best to blend into the environment by imitating Boar's Tusk. It did not work and all he did was stick out like a soar thumb.
Camille got all artsy and took some pretty neat photos of the sand. While she was taking some photos, Adam was like a little boy an kept running, rolling, and jumping in the sand. Some might be mistaken after looking at these pictures that we live in a tropical climate, and that the ocean should be on the other side of Camille. Once you have been here though, you would know the only things on the other side of Camille would be a collection of antelope and sage brush. The Dunes were so large that Camille was almost drown out. She too was attempting to imitate Boar's Tusk. She was a bit more successful, but not quite. The little boy that Adam is could not resist jumping off the sides of the dunes. He said when he was a Ricks he would go to the Dunes with some friends and they would do the same thing. So, here is Adam jumping....
Here is Adam landing....And, here is Adam trying to run back up the hill so he could do another jump. Notice how ripped his calf muscles are. He said all good athletes run in the sand, as he pounded his chest with pride.By the end of the day, Adam was so covered in sand that it was stuck to his face, in his hair, and there was over an inch and half of sand in his shoes. Adam is showing off how covered in sand he was...his hand and knuckles were imbedded with sand, but you can see where his wedding ring was. After Camille was able to coral Adam, we went on a hike up in the cliffs. At some point there must have been some Native Americans in the area because all the cliff's walls were covered with petroglyphs.
Here is Adam showing off a large elk or deer that had been carved into the cliff face. This was the most distinct carving of an indian on a horse with a spear. Camille was ready to carve something in the wall to show she could be a good squaw, and then take the pictures to the Mountain Man Rendezvous next year, but Adam calmed her down.

How much would you pay for Cheesecake?

It was Jill Pickle's (that is Adam's nickname for Camille's sister) Birthday. To celebrate her mom and dad did something amazing. They ordered a world famous cheesecake all the way from New York City!! The bakery/deli is called Carnegie Deli (click here). Adam was expecting some small, little, tiny cheesecake, that he would only get a bite or two. Boy was he wrong.
Here is the box the cake came in. Very flashy...Very New York.
The cake was vacum wrapped to preserve the goodness inside.
Here is the birthday Pickle holding her cake. You can see that it is a beast of a cake because Pickle's muscles are tense under the weight. Way to show off your guns Jill!!!Here it is cut and sliced. We measured the cake to be 1 ft. in diameter, 6 inches thick, weighing 10 lbs. That is a man's cheesecake. If you think that is a big cake, you should check out their sandwiches.
Adam was also hoping that a Philly Cheesesteak was also being delivered so he could have a very geographical meal, but was very happy once he got his slice of manly cheesecake.
Camille is happy to be eating the cake now, but as soon as we got in the car she complained that she would have to go to the gym an extra day that week (fyi: We took home a couple of pieces and did not go to the gym any extra days that week).

An extreme close up of Camille eating the cake of power. Thanks Pickle, Terri, and Dennis, it was a great day!! And happy birthday Jill!!!

Camille is the smartest person on the PLANET!!!!

After years of blood, sweat, tears, and hard work Camille has finally reached the pinacle of her scholastic career by passing all of the CPA exams. Finally, she is done!!!! Adam is so proud of her, so proud in fact, he gave her "a good game" slap to the rear. Adam is also happy because now Camille can assume her role as the full-time bread winner of the family. Adam is currently looking into invetro fertilization for males. WE are so proud of Camille and all she has accomplished!!! We will even forgive her for being a boring accountant.

Labor Day - Mountain Man Rendezvous

During the Family Reunion we broke free and went down to the Mountain Man Rendezvous in Fort Bridger, Wyoming. We both used to go when we were kids, but neither one of us had been in a long time and we thought it would be a fun little break. It was a super hot day, very dusty, and there were a lot of interesting characters to say the least.
Here is Camille modeling the Fort Bridger sign. Unfortunatley this year she failed to wear her leather chaps with tassels and coon skin cap. Maybe next year she will look more like a Mountain Woman.Adam did his best impersonation of Jim Bridger, but the blue shirt and khaki shorts just didn't get the job done. Here are some real Mountain men, and a pioneer woman (how the heck did she get there!!?). If you look closely you can see the dude on the left is wearing a pirate hat. Adam got very concerned because the lines between mountian men and pirates were very blurred. Acutally, Adam's theory is that the Rendezvous is just a big gathering of weirdos who dress up in whatever they can find. There were people with kilts on; there were people with no clothes on; there were people dressed as pirates, as indians, and cowboys, and civil war guys. You name it, they were there and they were strange.Adam, once again, attempting to blend in to the crowd. Obviously, one of these kids is not like the others. We actually ran into a family from our ward. They were kind enough to take a picture of us and did not judge us for not dressing up like pirates or drunks in leather.Camille really wanted to be Pocahontas. She was ready to sign up for Squaw duty and live in a teepee. Camille really got into the Pocahontas thing when she got close to a skinned buffalo hide. It smelled so good that Camille even thought about registering the rights to the smell and making it a perfume. The highlight of the day was right before we left we decided that we would get a funnel cake. If you have never had one, you are missing out on life. It is pretty much like a doughnut batter dripped into hot grease. It taste so good, and like everything else we ate that weekend, is soooo good for you.

Labor Day - Family Reunion

Every Labor Day weekend since roughly 1988, Adam's family has been going to Meeks Cabin/Dam in the Uinta Mountains. There are a number of cabins and a large lodge. We play games, eat good food, and take hikes. One of the funner traditions that we do is something simply called "The Feast!!" Shrimp, corn, sausage, carrots, and potatoes are all cooked together. Then the food is spread out onto a table and everyone just uses their hands as utensils.
Here is Adam showing off the huge bowl that was used to cook the food (and his muscles!!). He had just dumped it out onto the table. Annie, Adam's sister, is just off his shoulder getting ready to pound some shrimp.A close up of the carnage!!! Just to make it extra healthy, there were cups of butter and coctail sauce spread throughout the tables for dipping. Overall, a dieters delight.
After the meal, Adam, his niece Julia, and Bro in law, Bryan went outside for some much needed exercise. Adam and Bryan were teaching Julia the finer points of playing offensive line. As you can see she is a fast learner and has two little fingers pointed at the ground. It was really funny because she would scream "down, set, hut!!" in a little squeeky voice, and then run straight at Adam.
The best game of the weekend was invented by Bryan, Adam, and Eric (Adam's bro.) There was a bell tower in the middle of the camp. The goal was to hit the bell, causing it to ring, from various distances with a football. The boys played almost all night with Adam usually being able to hit the bell first, even though Bryan beat him a couple of times. Adam really should be the starting QB for the BYU Cougars. Sadly, by the end of the night, the three could barley lift their arms.
Adam looks like he is ready for the NFL, especially with a large metal slide next to him and Aimei (Adam's Sis in law) in the background.

Old Fashion

So, Camille's sister went to Provo this past weekend to get her senior pictures. You can see those here. Because of this grand event, Camille and Adam decided to have some fun with senior pictures of the past. We had the funnest time doing these pictures. We laughed and laughed. Camille said that Adam's pics turned out better, but Adam think's there were some doozies of Camille. You can find the website here
The first year up for Camille was 1978. A good year for just letting go, which is what Camille did with her hair. The only problem was fitting her fro through all the doors.
In the 70's Adam decided to go with the Bay City Rollers look (Can you hear him singing S-A-T-U-R-D-A-Y - NIGHT). He could even be sporting a Bobby Brady look. Adam also preferred bell bottoms with platforms. Paisley was a must!! Chicks dig it!!
The late 80's, early 90's introduced Camille to a feathered look. It took her hours of teasing and drying to get this perfection. We especially like the fluffy white sweater she is wearing. What you don't see in the picture is her neon pink trapper keeper. During her math class she took the liberty to write "Bon Jovi" with hearts all over it.
Adam's face didn't quite fit into this picture, but it was too funny to not include. He looks like the biggest nerd on the planet. Actually, Camille is convinced this is Adam during his first year of college. Can you hear Adam saying, "My favorite dungeons and dragons character is...."

Sometimes people do think Adam is Superman. This photo is conclusive evidence that he is Clark Kent. If not Clark Kent, then the President of both the Glee and Chess club circa 1952.

Camille would have totally given Adam the shaft in 1952. The nerd above would not have been able to woo the stiff chinned beauty bellow. She would have been a cheerleader with her long flowing skirt, and gone to Prom with the varsity QB named Buck.
