Every Labor Day weekend since roughly 1988, Adam's family has been going to Meeks Cabin/Dam in the Uinta Mountains. There are a number of cabins and a large lodge. We play games, eat good food, and take hikes. One of the funner traditions that we do is something simply called "The Feast!!" Shrimp, corn, sausage, carrots, and potatoes are all cooked together. Then the food is spread out onto a table and everyone just uses their hands as utensils.
Here is Adam showing off the huge bowl that was used to cook the food (and his muscles!!). He had just dumped it out onto the table. Annie, Adam's sister, is just off his shoulder getting ready to pound some shrimp.
A close up of the carnage!!! Just to make it extra healthy, there were cups of butter and coctail sauce spread throughout the tables for dipping. Overall, a dieters delight.
After the meal, Adam, his niece Julia, and Bro in law, Bryan went outside for some much needed exercise. Adam and Bryan were teaching Julia the finer points of playing offensive line. As you can see she is a fast learner and has two little fingers pointed at the ground. It was really funny because she would scream "down, set, hut!!" in a little squeeky voice, and then run straight at Adam.
The best game of the weekend was invented by Bryan, Adam, and Eric (Adam's bro.) There was a bell tower in the middle of the camp. The goal was to hit the bell, causing it to ring, from various distances with a football. The boys played almost all night with Adam usually being able to hit the bell first, even though Bryan beat him a couple of times. Adam really should be the starting QB for the BYU Cougars. Sadly, by the end of the night, the three could barley lift their arms.

Adam! You know your "feast" is really a low country boil - a very big Southern Coastal tradition! We have a shrimp boil every summer with our good friends, although you westerners don't get the benefit of local shrimp, mmmmmmmmm good!
Can I just say - HOLY FLASHBACK, BATMAN! I remember Girl's Camp up there. So much fun! In fact, you have a picture of a cabin that the leader's stayed in when we were there - we tied a rope around their door knob and a tree to lock them in! HA!
And, you are making my mouth water - we would do feasts like this when I lived in Mississippi. Only, we used crawfish or crab with the shrimp. SOOOOO YUMMY! Can I be adopted into the Phillips fam next year for their reunion? PLEASE?! :)
What a great time. I loved Julia's little two finger football playing.
