Each Labor Day Adam's family goes "camping." We have blogged about it in the past. Generally, what we consider camping is cabins, running water, and small dosage of the outdoor experience. This year was great. Grady was big enough to run and run and run and run. He thoroughly enjoyed sticks, rocks, and dirt. Camille fearing that she would get stuck carrying Grado around every second of the day wisely invested in a baby backpack thing. Note: Adam continuously referred to Grady as Yoda because Grady looked like the Jedi master in Return of the Jedi.
Of course what would be a Phillips outing without some fishing (a lot of fishing). Usually Adam, his dad, and brothers are gone for hours at a time fishing. However, this year, the entire family got into the action and fished. Everyone caught something...and actually, Jody (sis in law) caught the biggest of the day. Note: Adam's dad actually got the biggest of the day but right when he went to pick up the fish the line snapped and off the fish went. Monster fits were had by Adam's dad.
Grady really loved the rocks and dirt.
We hiked down the to the bridge on Sunday afternoon. If there was one thing besides rocks, dirt, and sticks that Grady loved...it was his cousins. He could not get enough of them. He pretty much scream delightful nonsense at them this entire walk.
He did not care that the cousins were not paying attention to him and were playing video games. He just wanted to be with the boys.
That, of course, did not mean he wasn't above trying a little fishing.
Now, when we say he loved rocks, sticks, and dirt, we were not lying. Any rock would do. In fact, at one point we were all sitting outside talking when we heard him grunting incredibly loud. We turned around to find him attempting to lift this giant boulder. Adam suggested he try a much smaller rock, perhaps a pebble...Grady would not be deterred and cried when we picked him to take him inside.
We had a large group, a great time, and amazing food. Another great Labor Day at Meeks Cabin.
